Life- The Amusement Park

portals

Imagine that you are at an amusement park. You are excited with childlike glee to be here. It’s a brand-new innovated park in which the “rides” are actual doors to whatever you wish to experience.

The place is so expansive and massive, there seems to be no end to options. There are doors to any country or culture. There are doors to all sorts of adventures. There are doors to creativity and careers. There are doors to emotions, any emotion you want to feel. There are doors to the past- to history and doors to the future. There are doors to outer-space and doors to the dimension of atoms. The doors are endless.

And you get to choose which door, or ride, you are going to take- all purely for the fun of it, for the experience and the expansion that particular choice will provide.

Imagine that the way to pass through a new door is simply through thought- because these experiences come through perception and as soon as perception shifts, a new door opens and a new experience begins.

Now, imagine this is actually your soul… before you came here, and here is simply a door you entered through thought. In order to fully experience the ride, you left everything behind- even memory of where you came from.

Imagine that the soul purpose of this life is simply to experience for the sake of expansion.  It is your choosing. It is all just a trip and you have all power within to shift the experience at anytime.

Imagination is a gift- a tool- a portal. Imagination is the key!

Almost Raw Vegan Chow Mein

O my goodness! I didn’t think vegan could possibly taste this good.

The key to awesome vegan cooking is to be creative- treat it like an art- for indeed it is. Pay attention to your intuition. Be mindful of the ingredients you add.

Like a singer that takes a song, learns it, and then makes it their own, make your recipes your own.

For this dish I baked a large spaghetti squash (only ended up needing half of it). Split it in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. Place face down on a baking sheet with a little water in the bottom. Bake at 375 for 35-45 min. As soon as you can poke a fork through the skin, remove from oven. Do not cook till mushy or it will not be good for this dish. The flesh should be tender-crisp.

While it’s baking, in a small bowl mix together a sauce of:

2 tsp. Toasted sesame oil

1/4 cup organic Tamari sauce

2 tsp coconut sugar or other sweetener

1 clove garlic, minced

Set aside.

prepare following ingredients:

1 yellow onion, chopped

3 stalks celery, sliced

1/2 bell peppers diced

2 cups shredded purple cabbage

1 carrot julliended

Heat 2 tbs. olive oil over low heat. Add onions:

Stir and cook till slightly softened. Add carrots:

Stir and cook another minute then turn off heat. Add remaining veggies and scrape out hot spaghetti squash (approximately 2-4 cups of it. Use your good judgment)

Stir in the sauce. Sprinkle with slivered almonds, toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onion.
Yum!

Vegan Life

Generally I have found that if it doesn’t look good, it won’t taste good.

I decided not to view this change to a vegan diet as a deprivation of all the yummy foods I used to love, but rather as a new life wherein I am discovering new foods with even more deliciousness.

It has rekindled my passion for food preparation. This vegan life-style requires thought, innovation, research and creativity. I am challenged to make the most satisfying dishes in the healthiest possible way. It is an adventure and a whole new world.

For lunch today I made a sandwich that was to die for with a Marsala vegan patty, grilled onion, bell pepper, tomato, lettuce and a bit of my mock cheese sauce, all on toasted, gluten free rye bread.

I’ve got plans for a Vegan borscht for dinner. Mmmm mmmm!

Who is Responsible for All the Suffering in the World?

My diet today is approximate 90% vegan… I believe this video, along with others I have recently watched will take me to 100%

We have so many choices in our country and so much to sift through and decide. We have access to so many types of foods. Anymore, I can’t even purchase meat or eggs without images of the suffering I am now so aware of going though my head.

When my kids were little we raised chickens for eggs. One time we decided to order some quick growing broilers for meat… much more humane than what we were learning goes on in factory farming right?
That flock of baby chicks grew so quick and so unnaturally fat they could barely walk. Never-the-less, they were living, feeling animals that ran after us like a brood of happy children whenever we were outside, hoping it was feeding time.
The day came when we were to slaughter them. I had a Russian friend of mine, who raised chickens for meat since she was a young girl, come over to help us with the process. We also had another family, had gone in on the cost of raising them, join us for the big event.
One by one the chickens heads were chopped off. Each one of us were offered an opportunity to chop of a head, taking turns. I refused to do any killing, but tried to look brave and tough. I sensed the anxiety in the other chickens as they awaited their fate.
After they stopped flopping around, we dipped their bodies in boiling hot water and removed their beautiful feathers. The smell was repulsive and lingered with me for weeks afterwards. It took me about a month before I could even eat the meat.
Yes, the chicken broth was deep colored rich with the nutrients meant to keep the chicken healthy life.
I solaced myself with the thought that at least they were “humanely” raised and slaughtered. But the reality is, what part of “slaughter” is humane?

It was all a learning experience. Most my family and friends will roll their eyes at these thoughts and say I am too fanatical or too sensitive.
I don’t really care about that anymore.
I’m not saying that it is just plain wrong to eat meat. But I am becoming aware of what our meat consumption is doing to our planet and of the immense suffering going on and the difference some clear education and a few changes can make for myself and others.

We say we want world peace. We say we want suffering to cease. But where, when, and how is any of that going to take place if when people bring out the truth and common sense they continue to be criticized and/or ostracized from society?

How can things change in any arena of discord, if all we do is stand around and make fun of each other? When have smart-ass remarks  anybody anywhere. As a whole the world is severely suffering. And why? So our personal nest isn’t ruffled? So we can continue to indulge our senses and ignore the price that is paid to do so?

It’s not just about veganism and animal cruelty; Its also about world hunger, slave labor, child pornography, the Holocaust of abortion;
It’s about devaluing life.
Its about apathy. We are each responsible for our part.

I am responsible for my part. I am responsible every time I buy eggs and cheese- for the health issues they cause, for the deception and oppression of the pharmaceutical companies continuing to have power over us, for the blatant abuse and slaughter of billions of animals. I am responsible every time I purchase products from countries who utilize child labor. I am responsible for purchasing products from companies that sexually exploit women, children and even men. I am responsible when I form opinions not based on personal open and honest research, but on media-madness, and peer pressure.
I am responsible every time I pull down the blinders, close my ears and shut my eyes because the truth means I need to make a change.

Who is responsible for all the suffering in the world?
Not some invisible God in the sky,
But you and I, just you and I
Who is responsible for all the tears being shed?
Don’t point to the other guy
Cause it’s you and I, just you and I
Everyday we are making choices
To close our ears or hear the rising voices
We’re either part of the problem or the solution
Take some time to think about your contribution
Who is responsible for so much corruption?
Not some politician way up high;
But it’s you and I, just you and I
Who is responsible for all the injustice?
It’s not the lawyer on the sly
But you and I, just you and I
Do not believe the lie of the hour
That it’s too late and give away your power
Do not idly wait for our destruction
Use your life for positive reconstruction
Who will change the world and make it a better place?
Not some big dictator up in the sky
But you and I just you and I
Who is responsible to end all war and hate?
Not the devil standing by,
But you and I, just you and I!

Vegan Cheesy Dip

nacho2

I don’t know what it is, but I fecking love this stuff!

Whipped up in my high-power blender, it’s a tantalizing, body-loving blend of steamed veggies, turmeric, cashews and nutritional yeast.

Trader Joe’s organic Longboards chips are a perfect match for dipping, but I also love it atop of taco salad or a baked potato with steamed broccoli.

nacho12

I can’t say it taste a whole lot like nacho cheese but in my opinion it definitely rivals it.

This recipe is an adaption from:

Lori & Lexie’s Combo Nacho Sauce

First add:

1/3 cup cup raw cashews- place in bottom of blender and pour just enough very hot water over it to cover.

Next steam together 1 cup (overflowing) each: diced cauliflower, carrots and white or red potatoes, until tender-crisp (5-10 min.). Save steaming liquid

Meanwhile, add to blender:

1/3 cup diced red bell pepper
1/3 cup nutritional yeast
1 Tbs. Fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp granulated onion
1/2 tsp granulated garlic (or a clove of garlic)
1/4 tsp turmeric (or a thumb of turmeric root)

Now add the steamed veggies and blend until smooth. If too thick, add a little of the steam water from the veggies until desired consistency.
Optional: Hot peppers for garnish, sprinkle with a little cumin or smoked paprika

Serve warm or cold with chips, or warm atop of favorite dish in place of cheese sauce.

The Message is Simple… LOVE!

sunset-hands-love-woman

Lately, it seems to be quite a struggle to hold onto hope for real world peace, to feel safe and secure in life, and to trust in the best intentions of humanity. News headlines lines literally wreak with purifying stories of hatred and malice, murder and deceit, heartache and suffering. I suppose the most baffling aspect of it all is why would things be worse, when there are churches and religions massively covering the earth claiming to teach unity and love? In fact, I don’t think there is hardly a religious person out there that would not agree that LOVE is the key that unlocks happiness, peace, joy, liberation, forgiveness…

Then why, why is the world in such a mess?
Why is religion not impacting the world as it could be?

The reason religion is failing to unify is because of a little conjunction that most religion adds to the simple message to love.

That conjunction is “and”.

What comes after that conjunction is as vast and as varied as personalities are.

Love and go to church
Love and give money
Love and dress the way we dictate
Love and submit to authority
Love and be baptized
Love and call yourself a_____________
Love and join our affiliation
Love and see things the way we see them
Love and agree with everything the pastor preaches
Love and don’t listen to rock music
Love and wear a covering on your head
Love and don’t ask questions
Love and be compliant
Love and serve our church
Love and stay away from______________

On and on and on it goes. Where it stops nobody knows.

Its not what follows the “and” that is the problem. It’s the “and” being there in the first place.
The “and” is what breaks the fellowship. The “and” is what divides. The “and” is what turns love into hypocrisy. The “and” is what removes the unconditional. Its the “and” that provides the excuse to commit atrocities. Its the “and” that inflates the ego. It’s that little conjuntion “and” that is added to the simple message of LOVE that dilutes it and robs it of its potency.

LOVE!

That is the key to world peace. That is the key to happiness. That is the key to Spirit.

God is love. Love is God.

The message of the sages is simple:

LOVE!

Trader Joe’s Vegetarian Burgers for Breakfast

004a

Trader Joe’s Vegetable Masala Burger with authentic Indian spices provided a non-traditional, warm and savory plant-based breakfast for me this morning.

Accompanied with a salad of cucumber, tomatoes and cilantro, some steamed broccoli, crisp apple slices and Mrs. Bubbles fermented sauerkraut tossed together with shredded purple cabbage. Lots of color- lots of nutrition!

Your Inner River that Satifies

there-is-a-river

There is a river
That flows from deep within,
There is a fountain
That frees the soul from sin,
Come to this water,
There is a vast supply,
There is a river
That never shall run dry.

This song talks about the river that “flows from deep within.”

In my book, “The Voice of God Within” I share my journey out of the abyss of religious muck and mire and finding true soul freedom when I began to listen within. I still hear that voice, and I have more peace now than I ever did in stuck in the boxed up teachings of Christianity.

However, my time spent in religion was not in vain. It was a stepping stone to where I am today- a learning process. I do not regret it. I was doing my very best during those years with what I understood. Nor do I advocate that religion is unnecessary. Many people are helped greatly by their religious affiliation.

But the greatest freedom, joy, peace and love all come from the voice within– There is a river that flows deep within each and every one of us. Most religious systems teach that you have to go through a process to receive this special infilling that gives you access to this river. Yet, I have found that it is these very processes offered that keep you away from this precious inner guidance. Religious dogma and expectations cause a person to look more without than within.

The REAL awakening comes when you hear and listen to the voice within. This voice is in every one of us. It is the very spark of life. It is the realization that YOU are the temple of God. Not a building or a group of people- but YOU! The Christ experience is to understand that you too are God incarnate.

“Is it not written in your scriptures, Ye are gods?” ~Jesus Christ

This song talks about freedom from sin, which is what keeps us from drinking of this eternal river. Sin is separation from God, or to put it more plainly- separation from SELF. It is anything that keeps you from listening within. When we hear that voice within, it leads us to have abundant life.

“I came so that you might have a more abundant life” ~Jesus Christ

To be religious is to be dedicated to a systematic way of living, to its rules, and to its religious observances. It is to have an allegorical “old-testament” way of life- to fear and quake before a powerful God- outside yourself, that will one day destroy all that is known to us today; it is to be judgmental of yourself and others; it is to separate, to war against, and to destroy your personal self- old testament religion is divisive. It is an allegorical testament of the evolution of man.

But to be authentic- or what Christ said to the woman at the well, to be in spirit and in truth, is to listen within; it is to drink of the inner eternal waters; it is to be reconnected to yourself; it is to become alive to your true, authentic self, which is God incarnate; it is to be free from rules and regulations and simply subjected to yourself to your own inner guidance system; it is to connect to pure, infinite, unconditional love; it is peace and serenity with yourself, with this life here, with others, and with God; it is the peace that passes understanding; it is to know that you can never really be separate from God; it is understanding that nothing in and of itself is evil or bad, but only perceived as evil (Romans 14:14); it is to be okay with where other people are in their journey; It is the freedom from feeling responsible for other peoples journey; it is to love everyone everywhere because you realize that what you do to one, you ultimately do to yourself; it is understanding that we are all of one source and life is eternal, and this too shall pass; it is knowing that the only thing that is real is that which never changes- that voice of God within- that YOU that has been there all along…

Look for that river within- it is a VAST supply!

What is RIGHT with Me!?

improved_compressed

When someone else comes against us, discourages us, rejects us, misunderstands us, makes fun of us, breaks up with us, or is just plain mean to us, after grappling through the initial blow and shock of what just happened, more often than not, we start to ask ourselves, “What is wrong with me?”

Lets put the breaks on this question right here and now with the simple answer:

NOTHING!!!!

We are not even asking the right question,

“What is wrong with THEM?”

After all, they are the one with the issue- not you.

They are the one responsible for how they feel and react or respond to ANYTHING in life- including you.

Its time to dump the question of what’s wrong with me and replace it with an empowering, positive question;

“What is RIGHT with me?”

In fact, if you tend to look for what is wrong with you, start making the question “What is RIGHT with me?” a regular habit.

Smile at yourself in the mirror. Ignore all those ugly negative voices that keep trying to pull you into self-condemnation.

Tell that beautiful, one of kind person in the mirror that you are his/her BEST friend and you are going to start telling him/her all the reasons why!

“What is RIGHT with me?”

Now that is a question worth meditating on and answering!!!

Have an awesome day!

Obvious Fact:

The news is bombarded with disturbing stories.

On my yahoo cover page, I have to scroll down for quite awhile to find anything that is GOOD news. This is not because there is more bad in the world than good. It is our focus that is determining what we see ever day. As long as we click it, read it, buy it, talk about it, pass it along, that is what we will continue to get. They give us what sells.

As light workers, we should be very selective about the news we click on. Remember, ever click counts- including yours.

When its dark and light is needed, TURN THE LIGHT ON! When you turn off the light it becomes dark.

Collectively we can make a huge impact in what we see in the news with diligence and tenacity.

Be mindful about what you engage in.

Be intentional about what you click on, read, share and “Like.”

Sometimes you gotta do a little digging, but hey, good vibes are worth it. After all they are determining what you are going to attract into your personal life sphere.

Here is a layman’s  spin to a famous Bible verse:

“Hey my friends, whatever you find that is truthful, whatever is impartial, whatever you find that is unprejudiced, when you find something that is clean, when you find something that is lovely or when you hear a piece of good news, if you find something that is moral or praise worthy, focus your attention there.”
